Like Greece, but more fun

I love Turkey, and always wonder why Americans are frightened to travel there.

It’s a complicated place, so you need to relax and take things with a sense of humour. My traveling companion giggled when much younger men called her “Chickee, Chickee”. Then an older woman walked over and yelled at them

Back in Boston a woman explained to me that she’d love to visit but couldn’t because she’s blonde. I didn’t know how to tell her that Russians as well as Vikings lived there in classical times and weren’t celibate

The one thing I don’t love about Turkey is all the stray dogs. They’re well-cared for in Istanbul but a bit feral in the countryside

I like Istanbul because of how it mixes modern secular Europe with historic Turkey and now with aggressive Islamist socialism

We went to Cappadocia during peak Covid, so everything was calm and relaxing. No idea what it’s like now
